Christmas at the Hotel del Coronado

Christmastime at the Hotel del Coronado is, in the best way, pretty much everything you’d imagine for a holiday at a beachside resort.

Lavish decor in The Victorian (the resort’s main building that houses the reception and concierge desks, guest rooms, banquet and ballrooms, shops, and bars) and the enchanting holiday musical lightshow just outside of it are only the beginning of a near-immersive holiday experience.

Santa is onsite part of the season, along with his elves who are standing by, ready to deliver personalized goodie bags to guests’ rooms.

I stayed for two days in a room that included a walk-in closet (oh my gosh, the robes!) and a private balcony overlooking the garden patio courtyard, which has its own massive, beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

For your holiday stay, I highly recommend making a reservation for one of their beachside igloos. They are furnished as a living room & have a fire pit just outside, complete with chairs, blankets, & s’mores. A few steps away from the igloos is one of the Frostbite Lounge areas. Here, you can reserve a table with fire pit that allows you to watch the flames, the ocean, or the holiday ice-skaters. Because yes, they also have an ice-skating rink set up in the middle of the property.

If ice-skating & igloos aren’t your thing, stay beachside for the jingle roast bonfire or holiday movies under the stars.

Not all holiday events are outside in the cold. Indoor activities include Victorian tea, gingerbread houses, & my personal favorite: the spa. (Next trip, I’m planning for at least one full afternoon of luxury pampering.)

The grounds are immaculate, the staff is friendly &helpful, and strolling the beach with the resort lit up in the background is a genuinely incredible sight.

I can’t wait to go back!

I don’t share that I’m a travel consultant or travel writer when I stay anywhere. I want an authentic experience so I can make better client recommendations.
